Proposed Changes to the Rules for the Nomination of Mayor and Deputy Mayor
18 July 2019
Motion
A report presented to council provided details of proposed changes to council rule 20 in the constitution which related to the procedure for the nomination of mayor and deputy mayor. This followed a proposal made at annual council on 22 May 2019 which sought to make changes to the council rules and as such the matter had been taken forward without discussion for debate at this council meeting, in accordance with council rule 16.2.
The proposed changes to council rule 20, as specified in section 5 of the report, sought a return to the points based system for the nomination of mayor and deputy mayor.
Councillor Maple, supported by Councillor Murray, proposed the recommendation set out in the report.
On being put to the vote, the proposal was lost.
