Kent Police and Crime Commissioner

An election was held in Kent on 5 May 2016 to elect a police and crime commissioner for the county.
An independent candidate won the previous election in 2012 after the second round of voting. At this election, the Conservatives gained the seat from the independent after the second round of voting.
Matthew Richard Scott was elected as the police and crime commissioner for Kent.

Under the alternative vote electoral system, a candidate needs to win more than 50% of the votes to be elected. As no candidate received more than 50% of the votes in the first round, the two highest polling candidates went through to a second round. The second preferences of the eliminated candidates, where applicable, were added to the two remaining candidates' votes.
