MPs: Oppose Proposals to Remove Right of Appeal of Overseas Students
3 November 2005
Motion
Councillor Foster has submitted the following:
Recognising the importance of the university sector to these towns, and the value of overseas students, this council notes with great concern the stated wish of the government to remove the right of appeal to the judiciary, currently exercisable by prospective students who are initially refused entry clearance to the United Kingdom by overseas missions.
Medway's members of parliament are also urged to support opposition to these proposals.
On being put to the vote, the motion was carried.
